Adult High School

The Adult High School is an accredited high school of the State of New Jersey and the Paterson Public Schools. The Adult High School provides educational activities and instruction necessary for adults to complete graduation requirements leading to acquisition of a locally issued, state endorsed High School Diploma. Formal learning is verified by official transcripts.

The Paterson Adult High School provides counseling and academic advisement in regard to different types of credits needed to complete the Adult High School graduation requirements. (Not a G.E.D.)

This program is offered FREE to all Paterson residents, 18 years of age or older.


To qualify for the Adult High School Program:

You must:   

  • be 18 years of age or over *
  • Paterson Resident  (proof of residency required).
  • Must bring your high school transcript of last school you attended

You will complete high school credits in this program.   If you do not have any credits, the program will take 2 years to complete.

Classes are held Monday through Thursday from 5:00 -8:00 p.m.  This is not a GED program.


Semesters begin in September and February.     Please come in to fill out an application for enrollment.
